Obagi Blue Peel Radiance
At No.109 The Wellness Clinic, we provide a medical grade superficial salicylic acid-based facial peel that exfoliates and helps improve overall complexion.
A predicable and unform thickness of the uppermost layers of the skin (stratum corneum) is removed during the peel. This allows the natural wound healing process and new skincells to resurface resulting in tighter, smoother, brighter-looking and rejuvenated skin, after just 1 use. For optimal results, a series of 4 – 6 peels are recommended.

What is the treatment process?
You will be guided through an extensive consultation to ensure the treatment is suitable for your skin and help you understand all about the process. We will also check with you that you have not had any treatments or used any products that will cause a reaction to the peel.
The treatment will begin with you laying comfortably. Your face will be cleansed, a prep solution applied and any areas of broken skin protected with a barrier cream. Two gauzes will then be soaked in the Blue Peel Radiance and applied systematically over the face. The solution will remain on the skin whilst we observe any changes and monitor the skin reactions. A second pass of the solution may be applied if tolerable and the solution will be on for a period of 10-12 minutes.
As the peel is applied you may notice that some areas of your face may be slightly more sensitive than others but there will be a continual assessment throughout to ensure it is safe and penetrating to the correct layers of the skin.
The treatment can be finished with 20 minutes LED therapy, our FDA approved Opatra professional machine. Choice of light will depend on your needs but with this treatment, we usually recommend the red light for anti-inflammatory properties.

FAQs
Q. Will a face peel be painful? A. It should not be painful but clients can sometimes describe a tingling, stinging and warmth. Post-treatment inflammation may occur, including erythema and swelling, so we advise to plan your appointment with sufficient time around any important date or event, particularly for your first treatment with Obagi Blue Peel Radiance.
Q. How is Obagi Blue Peel Radiance different from other chemical peels? A. Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a superficial chemical peel comprising of Salicylic acid - 20%, Glycolic acid - 1.4%, Lactic acid - 1.76%. Also containing willow bark and liquorice root to soothe to skin. As the peel is superficial, it is minimally invasive in comparison to other chemical peels and requires little to no downtime following treatment. Combining this treatment with the Opatra LED will minimise inflammation and maximise rejuvenation.
Q. Am I a suitable candidate for Obagi Blue Peel Radiance? A. Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is suitable for most people with indications being dull skin, post acne, discolouration, rough uneven skin and signs of photoaging. However, it is contraindicated for anyone with active cold sores, sunburn, pregnant or breastfeeding, dermatitis or inflammatory rosacea. Also, patients who have used Accutane within 12 months or have an allergy to salicylates are not suitable for this procedure.
Q. When will I see results? A. Results can be seen immediately following the peel. For optimal results, a course of 4-6 peels, 2-4 weeks apart are recommended.
Q. What are the possible risks and side effects? A. Skin may be dry and red for 1-2 days and mild peeling may start to occur within 48 hours and can last 2-5 days. Skin needs to be treated very gently with mild products; products containing fragrance should be avoided 3-5 days, avoid use of all exfoliants such as AHA and BHA, retinoid, retinol, and scrubs for 5-7 days. Usual skincare can be resumed 5-7 days post treatment once the skin is less sensitive.
Q. What aftercare advice is there? A. Following treatment, the skin needs to be treated very gently, using very mild products; products with fragrance and active ingredients should be avoided for 3-5 days. We recommend to limit touching the face and, if necessary, making sure hands are clean prior to application of any products. Following the peel, clients must use SPF (we recommend SPF 50) as direct sun exposure can cause skin to not heal properly and may cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
